PADI TEC 45 DIVER Takes your training as a tec diver further and deeper

The PADI Tec 45 Course with Tech Asia

The PADI Tec 45 course is the second step in PADI training. You’ll extend your depth limit to 45 metres/150 feet and learn to plan and execute repetitive decompression dives using a single decompression cylinder. It puts you in a complete tech diving equipment configuration if you haven't already used it during Tec 40. This can be either backmount or sidemount. You’ll also make accelerated decompression dives using EANx or pure oxygen. This will open the doors to dives and experiences that very few people will ever get to match!

Course options

This course can be taken using air or trimix as a bottom gas. Whilst air as a breathing gas has long been regarded as acceptable at these depths by many, the latest research and evidence shows that whilst using air at 40 meters gas narcosis and density can pose high levels of risk to the diver. The use of Trimix reduces these risks and is recommended. Course fees are based on air as the primary breathing gas, if you wish to use Trimix there will be an additional charge for the gas, please ask us for a quotation.

Duration and Scope of the Course

Best taken over three days, the course includes self study, three knowledge development sessions, three practical applications, and four training dives. It will cover :

  • The skills and equipment and planning need to dive to a maximum of 45 metres/150 ft.
  • The knowledge to plan and execute single and repetitive decompression dives using a single stage cylinder of EANx or oxygen to accelerate or add conservatism to the decompression stops.
  • Decompression will now be limited only by comfort level and gas management constraints.
  • How to prepare for and respond to foreseeable technical diving emergencies.
  • Mastery of the basic skills and procedures you’ll need as you move into deeper technical diving.
  • More about full technical diving equipment.

Note that if Tec 40, 45 & 50 are all taken at the same time, training duration comes down six or seven days depending how much of the Knowledge development you have completed before arrival.

Equipment and what is Included

At this level you will use a full, standard technical configuration of either backmounted double tanks, or of Sidemount if you are qualified to do so or wish to combine your training with a Tec Sidemount Diver course. You'll come to appreciate how a solid basic configuration can then grow with your diving. As your experience expands you should be able to add equipment, such as extra deco tanks, lights, DPV's, without having to change your basic rig.

You can find details of what is included in all PADI courses on the Overview page and course prices here.

Learning Materials

You'll use the Tec Deep Diver Crew-Pak that you received during Tec 40 Diver.  During training you can expect to :

  • Build a better understanding of technical diving equipment and its maintenance.
  • Learn about accelerated decompression.
  • Improve or fine tune gas management abilities.
  • Increase your skill proficiency in the water.

Prerequisites

To enroll in the course you must be:

  • A PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent.
  • A PADI Tec 40 Diver or equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of 50 logged dives, of which at least:
    • 12 dives were made with enriched air nitrox deeper than 18 metres/60 feet
    • 6 (with or without EANx) dives were deeper than 30 metres/100 feet
  • At least 18 years old
  • Complete the PADI Medical Statement and have it signed by a Physician.
